Van
Gogh? To use as Nursery Wall Art?
One would
hardly think of Vincent Van Gogh as a brilliant painter of art for
children,
however as all great paintings should be able to span all ages he has a
number
of beautiful landscapes that could liven any child’s room.
One could for
example see how an energetic painting such as “Starry
Night” with its bright swirls
and its strong compositional elements could make up the darker portion
of a Childs
wall décor. However Van Gogh has many other often forgotten
paintings that
would make beautiful décor for a kid’s room. The
painting “Almond Branches in
Bloom is a sky blue painting with strong flower colored branches
cutting
through the backdrop and composing a wonderful picture that is easy to
get lost
in. Such a painting though normally wall art could also work very will
as
ceiling art as it takes the view of looking up through the branches
into the
deep sky.
For a more
distant and brighter tree Van Gogh also did “Peach Tree in
Bloom at Arles.”
The
tree which grows out of a silvery ground and is backed by yellow and
blue in
many ways captures perfectly the emotions of seeing the early trees
bloom in
spring. It was perhaps his closeness to nature that allowed Van Gogh to
not
only see but to paint such beauty in such bold and strong ways.
One can see
this boldness all the clearer in Van Gogh’s many paintings of
sunflowers. These
paintings have become more and more popular over time both for their
boldness
and their unique color scheme for very few paintings utilize yellow so
well.
These are good option if you want to add yellow to the nursery which
won’t be
over powering but which will help to brighten the room as yellow can
do. One
must keep in mind though that many of these Sunflowers are not so
yellow, but a
rich and darker brown which can have a completely different effect on a
room’s
emotional composition.
It would
seem however that Van Gogh truly loved the color yellow and so he does
have
many paintings with choices utilizing this color. “Harvest at
Arles”
for
example is a bright yellow landscape of distant fields and homes at
harvest
time. Like the harvest time depicted Van Gogh’s pictures have
great warmth to
them, like the happiness of a home and so they are able to help warm
any room in
the house something that is especially important to take advantage of
as part
of the kid’s bedroom décor.
Van Gogh’s
unique contribution to art is also the reason why his art remains so
popular and
is worthier to adorn the most important room in your house, the
nursery. His
art seems to swim across the page as demonstrated so will in Starry
night.
Should one want a brighter painting that moves across the painting as
it seems
to spill out into the walls “Wheatfield with
Cypresses” is a good choice with the
airy and light clouds taking the place of stars as the spirals that
ties the
painting together. In general one Van Gogh demonstrates one of the key
elements
to creating great art, and that is being bold in every stroke placed on
canvas.
