Eleanor Campbell
When one thinks of Dick and Jane they often think of steriel pictures, of boring and meaningless stories. The reality is that people seem to need to be slapped in the face with meaning rather then accepting its subtlties. The illustrations of Eleanor Campbell tell us of what is most important in life, happiness and joy. With bright and cheerful water colors that can draw us into a world of joy and which can in fact amuss children greatly Cambell is one of the hero's of modern literacy and one of the greatest cute artists of all time. With a few simple shapes and soft colors she shows a father playing jump rope with his children. Pictures such as these are important for us to see, because for all the struggle that children can bring people still have them, people still love them. What Campbell did with her pictures was projected a message of happy family, of focusing on what was important. Certainly not all families are happy nor are all moments joyful or filled with love. But if in the the only thing a person can recall or focus on is the bad of their life what good would the dark pictures do them? Campbell helps us to remmember the sentament and love which we should remmember, to be happy. You can find a few of her pictures here. |
