Paul O. Zelinsky

One of the nice things about Paul O. Zelinsky’s books is that they are always artistically fresh, one of the more skilled artists of today his choice to create pictures for children is a testament to the beauty of this art form. Zelinsky did a couple of books based on fairy tales which are particularly interesting. His Rumpelstiltskin, was painted in a Renaissance style, with strong and bold oil paintings, who’s bright colors and thick layers help add both a touch of fantasy and realism to this books pictures. The overall effect is a wonderful story which most defiantly tells instant stories with each picture much more then words. This makes this book particularly wonderful for your displays for children among other people will instantly be drawn to the captivating beauty of these pictures. Another somewhat similar picture book done by him is a beautiful depiction of Hansel and Gretel, whose detail will draw in all those viewing it.

Even as he offers beautifully rendered Renaissance style art Zelinsky also offers very childlike stylized works such as Awful Ogres Awful day, and Shivers in the Fridge a story about magnets which find themselves inside the refrigerator. The fun look and feel of the illustrations of these two stories show both Zelinsky’s mastery of art, and how much fun he has creating such works. Though the amount of fun he has in creating will likely be nothing to how much fun your children will have looking at these pictures.
