Western Themed Nursery Decor
The desert theme.

While western themed rooms have gone out of style some they are still a good and beautiful idea for a nursery, becuase their color schemes can be very beautiful. With light blue top halfs and rich earth tones for the bottom portion of the nursery. One nice part about these color schemes is that there does not have to be a solid line between the two, you can mix the top and bottom colors and use a spung to textrue the area where the two colors would meet. A sponge can also be used to texture the lower earth tones.
As a western theme can also be thought of as a desert theme you can place picture and painting prints of desert scenes, there are many beautiful ones available.

Teddybears blend well with a Western Theme, as they tend to be earth tone colored as will. Stuffed rabbits also fit in well with such themes. Horse figurines also make for beautiful additions and can be placed both on furniture in display or along the edge of the walls on the floor (make sure that such horses are not a choking hazard, and are age appropriate for when your baby starts to crawl). This can give the feel of horses in the distance especially if you managed to paint desert hills in the lower portion of your walls.
One of the nice things about Western themes is that they allow you to have a reason to search for good deals at antique shops, from pine chests to old desks, you can find many items which fit the western theme.

Nursery wall art for the Desert and Western themes are fairly easy to find, of course it is not so common that such art was initially intended for the nursery however remmember you are teaching your child the visual language of art. For this reason it is not always necessary that a work of art have been intended for the nursery to begin with.
